Pre-outlined packages

Search & call package

Looking for a new call can be exciting, discouraging, and overwhelming, sometimes all at once. I can help you manage well the essential tasks of a search and sort through the data for discernment. This package includes an introductory call, 6 one-hour coaching sessions, feedback on a draft of your ministerial profile/application materials, and a copy of Sailing Uncertain Seas: A Workbook for Navigating the Call Process.

Leaving & starting a call well Package

Once you’ve found a new call, you want to leave your current call in good shape for your successor and get off to a fast start in your new position. I can help you think through how you want to show up in both places and how that translates into specific actions and timelines. This package includes an introductory call, the webinar "Leaving & starting well: a webinar for clergy transitioning between calls," and 6 one-hour coaching sessions.

Coaching through the first year of a new call package

Clergy who are new to church work or to a particular role in or model of congregational ministry often need assistance naming priorities, establishing good self-care practices, educating their parishioners about helpful expectations and feedback, and living into their authentic pastoral identities. I can help ministers successfully navigate the full cycle of “firsts” with attention to these details. This package includes an introductory call, one-hour sessions at a frequency of twice per month for the first three months and once per month for the following nine months, and 3, 6, and 12-month goal-setting outlines.

Sabbatical/renewal leave package

Sometimes clergy are so exhausted that they army crawl toward extended time away. That proves the need for leave - and it also prevents making the most of it. I can help ministers prepare themselves and their congregations for leave, provide useful check-in points during the leave, and assist pastors in thinking about leveraging their learning and refreshment to the benefit of themselves and their churches upon return. This package includes an introductory call, 8 one-hour coaching sessions (divided between preparation before sabbatical, the sabbatical itself, and re-entry after sabbatical), and the workbook Hitting the Refresh Button: A Workbook to Help Clergy Plan for Renewal Leave.

Supervising staff package

Most pastors enter ministry expecting to do the frontline work of preaching, teaching, and providing pastoral care, with a side of meetings. But once they are in their contexts, they realize that they have significant responsibilities for other full-time or part-time staff. Not all seminaries prepare ministers-in-training to perform those responsibilities well. I can help pastors address the questions that will allow them to develop a supervision strategy that fits their leadership style and their context. This package includes a free introductory call, 6 one-hour sessions, and the Core Values Index (a short assessment to help coachees gain awareness of decision-making and conflict styles among other leadership tendencies).

Leadership focus package

There are various stereotypes of what a “good pastor” looks like and does. Your church doesn’t need stereotypes. It needs your gifts and your authentic presence. I can help clergy name and begin to live into this fully-realized pastoral identity. This package includes an introductory call, the Core Values Index (a short assessment to help coachees gain awareness of comfort zones, decision-making and conflict styles, areas of struggle, means of improving relationships, and ways to make the biggest impact), 5 one-hour coaching sessions, and a customized list of resources to support your pastoral leadership.

Retirement planning package

You might be contemplating retirement, but you’re not sure how to go about it in a way that sets both you and your church up well for what comes next. Using my 6 Ps of retirement planning, I can help you tend to details that celebrate mutual ministry, honor relationships, pave the way for a good transition, broaden imagination about the coming season for you and for the church, and identify needed resources. This package includes an introductory call, 6 one-hour coaching sessions, and a planning sheet organized by the 6 Ps of retirement planning.

Mentor coaching

Many clergy, once they have experienced the power of a coaching relationship, explore becoming coaches themselves in order to start their own practices or to integrate coaching skills into their current ministries. As a Certified Mentor Coach, I can help mentees grow in the core competencies outlined by the International Coaching Federation so that they are prepared to apply for or renew ACC or PCC credentials. A mentor coaching package includes an introductory call, 10 one-hour sessions over at least three months, and written feedback following each call. A la carte services

Sometimes clergy aren’t in immediate need of multiple coaching sessions, but they could gain from one-off coaching helps. I offer the standalone services described below. Each is billed at the rate of one coaching hour.

Tricky conversation preparation

Do you have a meeting coming up that has a lot riding on it, and you’re not sure how to prepare for or navigate it? I will coach you for one hour around identifying your hoped-for outcomes, naming your strengths and ways to leverage them, strategizing for the conversation itself, and developing a pre- and post-meeting self-care plan.

Ministerial profile review

Could you benefit from professional feedback before you circulate your search and call paperwork? I will read through a draft of your ministerial profile and email coaching questions to you that will help you strengthen your free-response sections. I will also proofread for errors in spelling and grammar.

Search & call interview preparation

Are you looking for ways to tell your story and bridge communication gaps in interviews with call committees? I will coach you for one hour around sharing your narrative – including gifts, passions, and accomplishments – and responding to any challenges you anticipate.

Referral special

Pass my name on to someone who then becomes a coaching client, and you’ll receive two free one-hour coaching sessions. (Free sessions are added onto the end of packages for current coachees. Those who refer and are not in a coaching relationship with me are welcome to use the two sessions at their convenience.) Not sure how to make a referral? Send this sheet to colleagues.
